I hope this is how to do this blog thing! What an amazing week we had. I am planning to try some of the theater games at a family picnic next week, it should be very interesting, especially the finger les=ading the blind.
Message from Sue, Tanya and I are deep into this digital storytelling class. She is whizzing through the material. I hope I can remember how to do it after the class. Hershey came home Saturday. He is on the mend, eating, but pretending he can't jump, so wants Mama to lift him up all the time. He is skin and bones.
and you forgot to tell us how to work a blog. hope you vacation is restful. Sue Susan Koca
Hi I can't walk to day I am babysitting. They don't ask me very often so I try not to say no. How does this blog work?? I want you to read this book called " the One" Discovering the secrets of soul mate love. by Kathy Freston it is great I think you will like it It is very "energizing" HA just kidding but its good talk to you later Janet
Ah, Ha, now I figured it out! Today, I did my voice for my movie and worked on selecting pictures. We heard from a retired teacher who teaches movie making to teachers. Tommorrow we add music and sound effect and editing our pictures and I believe on Friday we present. What a week! Penny came yesterday. She was pleased to see the picture too! Sue
We sure take a great picture! So nice that Sue & Tanya are doing the digital storytelling class. I leave for Ghana on the 12th and can't fit another thing on my plate. I hope Marcia tells us how her family picnic theatre games went. Enjoy what's left of the summer! Hopefully, we won't be striking in the fall.
Lovely picture. Lovely idea to blog. Will contribute when I can. For the rest of our time off (assuming no strike) I have to fit in a colonoscopy (which I've put off for 7 years) and Niagara Falls. It'd be cool if I could do the colonoscopy at the Falls. I'd surely be clean. Loved our week at Starved Rock. When I take a moment to reflect on it, we did a lot! Glad to be back to eating like a normal person, though.
My ex still doesn't want me to come in the house to get my things. I arranged for a piano mover and then my daughter said she didn't want the piano. I am afraid he will sell it so am having it moved to my house, where I have no room, and I don't play. He told Jess the movers can get it but I'm not to come in the house. He also has my good dishes, crystal, silver somewhere, but not in the house. He has said I can't have it. I found a woman lawyer and am going to se her tomorrow. What a mess. I asked Jess if she thought her dad had had a stroke, that he was acting this way and she said no - so I guess he has just lost his mind! My surgery is Friday, and that weighs heavily on my mind too. My son finally got a job. 30 hours a week, so he will not be able to take off and it is the first week of school for Jess. A friend from CVS is going to take me. The sitter is all set and I keep warning the boys. Hershey has gained a pound and got his stitches out on Thursday. I am very happy with him. He is still one skinny cat; but looks much better. We are doing the 'happy cat dance' I will be paying the vet off for a while - so she can do the 'happy vet dance'! I looked on the Board website and there were a lot of interesting service learning places listed for the kids. Our counselor just gives them a list with no contact information. I thought I might take a group somewhere this year. I looked into the National Board thing and all the money is allocated for this year, so that's out. If they pay out over ten years that may be out for me altogether. I plan to teach for ten years more and that's it. I also am looking into getting medicare. The Board told me to enroll at social security and social security told me you can't just sign up. So Pete Ardedo, our trusty, dusty, unioun insurance guy at the union is looking into that for me. Did anyone go to the Bud Bikikin parade? It always looks to me like such a crush, and so hot! I never sow anyone from the union on the television. Well, I hope you were able to slosh through my meaderings. Sue
Doctor's office called and moved the surgery to Thurs. Whooppee! one more day to recover! However; someone at school told me I'm going to teach Freshman - guess I will find out tomorrow at orientation. sue
Wow, it's so good to see all of you here! I love the group photo! What an amazing week that was.
My life has finally settled down a bit. Spent so much time away at seminars that I had some catching up to do back at the office.
Some very good news: We had a meeting with Arne Duncan and he likes the Teaching Excellence Center idea. I'm going to want to pick everybody's brain over the next year to get your best ideas about elements of the program. It's sounding as if all of you found the arts activities useful. So keep all of us posted here how they work in your classroom this year, how much you get to do and how your kids and colleagues respond.
I'm putting this blog on my bookmarks, so that I can check back easily. We'll also see that you get an official invitation to participate in TEN.
Sue, how did the surgery go? How is Hershey doing? Penny
Hope all is well with everyone. I attended all the workshops and was such a good girl! Then spent Labor Day weekend in the hospital for dehydration. Needless to say, I missed the first two days of school. People are helping me move, but the room is a mess. Enrollment is way down and I hear so is IMPACT. Don't lose touch, people. Sue
Hope all is well with everyone My life's been crazy! We spent 3 weeks in Germany with my son who then came home a week later and got married last Saturday. His house flooded the week before that and I had to help with that and also we started school aug. 20. things are settling done now so hope to keep up with emailing i think of our workshop often as i consider it the high point of my career. thanks to Jan and Penny and all my creative friends
